    Thanks everyone for your input.

I chose View/Enter Full screen, and amazingly! I can now see all the worksheets - brilliant success :D

I don't seem able to save the worksheets in this view though, when reopening, the initial screen shows with just the first worksheet showing, along with the Mac dock running along the bottom of the screen.

Can't think why I can't save with correct view.

    Anyone any ideas please?

Really pleased that all the worksheets are actually there, and I really appreciate everyone's help.

What other options do you have within "View"? Is there an Arrange or anything similar?

There doesn't seem to be an 'arrange' option within View.

When I choose 'Enter full screen' (bottom option), the tabs for each year show. However, I lose the top headings and have to drag down. Unable to save spreadsheet with this view, and have to drag down the top headings to quit the spreadsheet.

It's obviously some small setting, but at least I have the years back and no need to do lots of work.

    Thank you

Might be a stupid question, but have you adjusted your screen resolution any time recently, and are you viewing Excel in full screen mode, or as a window?
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

In Excel 2011 on the Mac there should be a set of buttons on the bottom left of the screen that look like the buttons on a DVD player.

The left most button takes you to sheet 1 the right most to the last sheet and the middle two move you one sheet each way left or right. They are only slightly different to the Windows version you can see in the image Hazzanet posted.

On the Mac go to the menu bar at the top of the screen. Where it says Excel and click on it, then click preferences.

On the preferences window there is a section labeled Authoring, click on the second icon from the left, View. Down the right hand side make sure the Show horizontal scroll bar is checked and also the Show sheet tabs option is also checked.

    Thanks WTFH and Mr Toad.

I haven't recently adjusted screen resolution, when I initially open the spreadsheet I can see the Dock icons arranged at the bottom of the screen. However, when I choose View/Enter Full screen the full window covers the dock and I can see all pages in the workbook. Unable to drag the screen to left or right using this view.

When I view the worksheet from Mission Control the sheets are visible, but when on screen only first sheet shows, others invisible.

In Full Screen view, I can see the buttons at bottom left of the worksheet and can move between separate pages, and at the bottom of the icons it says Normal View.

In Preferences/Authorising section all buttons mentioned by Mr Toad are already ticked, along with every other option in the section mentioned.

It seems that I can view all pages within worksheet, but unable to save in that mode. Each time I wish to open the spreadsheet, have to choose 'Enter Full Screen', and lose top headings Excel/File/View etc, and have to drag down.

Really grateful for all input, much appreciated.

Have just seen your second post Mr Toad (with images), thank you.

My Preferences are ticked exactly the same as yours.

Yes I think "View" in Windows Excel is different to "View" in Mac Excel.

Edit: Is there an option under the Window menu called Arrange? Something like Windows | Arrange | Tiled perhaps? What happens if you try it?

Thanks very much for update Jivesinger.

Think you have solved the problem.

Went to Windows/Arrange and clicked Tiled, and the spreadsheet seems to be saving showing the different pages (as they should do). Have saved the spreadsheet a couple of times, and re-opened, and the tabs are still there.

    I think we've won :D

I'm so grateful for all the help and information given to help me to solve this problem, everyone has been great, and the images kindly provided by hazzanet and Mr Toad have been invaluable.

    Thank you, very much appreciated.
