    I think this is a really nice idea of doing what you wanted.... if they appreciate and a corny sense of humour you could write something like "I wanted to come up with a nice present, and thinking of one was a piece of cake, and here's your own piece of cake", or something like that, really silly stuff :)
  • I think its a lovely gesture to pay for the cake for them. I wouldn't worry about writing it in a certain way -just write it in words that sound like they are from you and explain that the cake is your gift to them and you hope it contributed to their perfect day.
