Wedding cake

Options
Hi all

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section but I wasn't sure where to put it.

I'm doing a wedding cake for a friend at the weekend and I want to surprise her and give it them as a present.

Do you think it looks tight to turn up with just a card??
Also, any ideas what I can write in the card to tell them the cake is their present? I'm not very good with wording!

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

I take it they know you're making the cake, they just don't know that they're not paying for it?

I don't think turning up with just a card looks tight at all. Cakes are not cheap to make, and other people may have vouchers etc (inside a card), or just no gift at all (all of which is fine imo).

I have to say...I personally wouldnt turn up with it on the day but potentially give it beforehand.

Are they aware that you might be making a cake...and maybe have they made plans for another cake thinking that they were not getting one?

as for what to write in the card...wish them every happiness and good luck for the future....I dont think you need to make special reference to the cake.

Yes sorry I should have put that, they are expecting to pay for it.

I just wanted to think of something nice to write in the card to say have it as your present

    Thanks x

I would just say if "money is mentioned"...theres no need its my gift to you....

I guess something similar happened with a couple that i made a chesse wedding cake for ...it wasnt awkward at all just to say its my gift to you.

Perhaps if you want to acknowledge it in the card then just put something like...

'I'd love you to accept your wedding cake as a gift from me to a wonderful couple..."

Thanks, they know about the cake and I am delivering it to the venue on the morning of the wedding.

  • You could enclose a beautifully-written fake decorative card 'bill' in the wedding greeting card - with a price of £0.00 and 'made with love' or similar as the ingredients included?

My friend has offered to gift us a cake for the wedding. I am so grateful and don't expect a card or anything else.

But the OP was making a cake for a couple who were expecting to pay and wanted to nicely let them know they didn't have to.
