grant or support for overseas placement?
Hi everyone.
This is my first post so pls forgive me if it's in the wrong place or if I do anything wrong.
I was wondering if anyone knew anything about grants or funding available for students who work overseas. I need to spend the 3rd year of my degree abroad as part of my degree and I have the option to either study or work. For both personal and financial reasons I need to work but finding a paid work placement so far in advance is practically impossible, especially because the university says I have to have a contract in advance which, to be honest is proving to be extremely hard.
I have found a placement that would be suitable but the only problem is it isn't a paid placement which, financially, is not viable for me. Yet in all other ways the placement is good. I wondered whether there was a grant available or some other support which would allow me to take up this placement. I am aware of the Leonardo da Vinci scheme which this yr becomes the Erasmus scheme but this in itself does not provide enough funding. I am looking for funding that would give me a bursary of at least £120 per week, ideally £150. Any ideas?

This might be worth a try:
The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust offers Fellowships to British Citizens resident in the UK and from all walks of life to acquire knowledge and experience abroad*.
The Fellowship offers a unique opportunity to travel overseas and explore areas of mutual interest. Many of our 4000 Fellows have reported that the Award has opened doors that otherwise would have remained firmly shut. For many the experience has been truly LIFE CHANGING. http://www.wcmt.org.uk/
