Correct me if I am wrong but I am reading it as spend £25 twice then get 1 statement credit of £25, so still a good deal but you need to spend £50 plus.
"When a registered Cardmember completes two transactions of £25 or more at any participating London Restaurant Festival merchant on two separate occasions from 3 - 21 October 2013, they will receive a £25 statement credit. "

You're right, I read it carefully and it does seem as if you have to spend £25 TWICE and you only then get £25 back. I'll change my post to reflect the exact words from American Express - and leave out my enthusiastic interpretation! Thanks :)

I'm a little confused by this. If you go onto the website you can book for instance:

    "Bloomsbury Street Bar & Restaurant
    Offer details

London Restaurant Festival 2013 - 2 courses, £25 per person
Expires 21st october. Subject to availability. Dishes subject to change. Excludes service, includes VAT"

Does that mean that you can book any two courses on the menu for £25, or that you are limited to two set items?

It has to be two different restaurants to qualify, if that's what you man but I would contact the participating restaurant if your query isn't about the deal but the menu.

I was interested in this but then bought tickets for the LRF Eat Film event instead
