And unfortunately you were wrong in this instance, my accountant kindly attached a SA302 to my copy of the tax return, which he retrieved when he put it through digitally, so I'm a happy camper and it seems Nationwide has accepted it too as I had an update from our IFA earlier saying they only needed my wife's pay slip for September now, which she will receive tomorrow.

Agreed, it's not a full SA302 (i.e. no letter to accompany it), but it still does give an overview of earnings and proof of taxes paid.

When did your broker upload it to the case?

It's taking Nationwide 48 hours to approve docs at the moment. Last time I uploaded a SA302, I forgot to attach the letter and they asked us for it a couple of days later.

Went up this morning, but I did have them chase it up as I wanted to be sure it was ok before we go off on holiday. Said it was fine, only need that payslip now. Maybe because I included the full tax return with it?

I do suspect in my case they wanted it more to check I was actually paying taxes, rather than to confirm my income.

Might just pop round to the local tax office tomorrow and ask them to print a full SA302 off, just to be sure.
