Halifax switch gone wrong

Options
I opened up a Halifax reward account online using their switching service (before the 7day came in). The £100 was in the account straight away but they have only transferred my direct debits over. So all my money is still being paid into my lloyds account with my bills coming out of Halifax.
Obviously this is causing hassle as I'm having returned dd and am already overdrawn
I've just rang them and they said its my fault! Apparently I didn't fill out the form properly and to go in a branch!!!! It may well be my fault, I've never switched accounts before. my understanding is I wouldn't of got the £100 if I done it wrong?
I can't get to a branch til Friday an in that time I'm gonna get even more overdrawn as more bills are coming out.
Has anyone had similar happen? Or have a suggestion?
Their overdraft rates are extoriante so need to sort it ASAP.
Thank you

Have you been charged fees already? Or just expecting them?

Reason I ask is that I thought, under the terms of the switching offer, they agreed to waive all fees for 3-4 months? Or maybe just until they've established the DDs on your new account? When did you initiate the switch?

For future reference, the only way to switch your income is for you to do it yourself, or sometimes you sign a credit re-direction letter/form which the new bank then sends to your employer. However, many employers won't re-direct your salary without speaking with or contacting you directly. If you think about it (have you?), if there aren't controls such as this in place, anybody purporting to be from a bank could re-direct your salary to their own account!

Thanks very much yorkshireboy. Yes I was just expecting charges. I do know about the waver but thought as I hadn't done the switch properly I would get charged. I may be wrong.
I didn't know about the salary aspects so thank you for that. It just shows I didn't do my homework properly! At least I know where I've gone wrong.

    Thanks for all the help

I also used the Halifax £100 offer - they managed to change the account numbers on my direct debits but not the sort code. Unsurprisingly it didnt work very well.

...which is why I'd never switch an account with important DDs (ie mortgage, credit card, etc). Indeed, I'm switching just a couple of SOs from a 'donor' account to Halifax for my £100 incentive.

But for you, Halifax do have some of the best 'goodwill' payments for service failure issues. ;)

they are only dummy £1 DDs to Tesco to earn the £100 - not worth bringing Halifax attention to them !
