This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Heavy rain and still pitch black this morning, I already want to hibernate!
DH had bad day at work yesterday ... just for a change from me and my every day is a bad day. He works at a huge college which was originally 5 different colleges and have all now combined into one on several sites. He teaches GCSE and A level to 16 to 18 year olds and also adults but the new site principal has decided (1) that it's dangerous for 16-18 year olds and adults to be in the same building, so has rescheduled all classes, which have obviously already started for this year, so no-one knows when/where their class is and half have clashes with other lessons on their timetable. (2) That teaching GCSE and A level is bad idea and people who do this get worse results. WHAT?! Apparently she is incredibly confrontational and no-one dare say a word to contradict her and 3 weeks into term, one head of department has already been signed off sick with stress for 3 months due to her. No idea what is going to happen next but DH spent evening looking for new jobs
Salmon and stir fry for dinner as DH is training tonight, may help get rid of some of his rage at work.
I better get going so will leave with usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Hi all
Need to get up in a moment and make the packed lunches.
So tired, wish I could have another hour or so in bed!
Got another busy day at work. No idea what's for tea tonight, probably just something out of the freezer.
TTFTM - that sounds awful, is he in the union? If so, he should speak to them as it cannot go on like that. What is she trying to do, ruin the place?!
Hope everyone has a good day!the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
Morning all
Wet and dark here, not good for getting up! Washing is on the airers.
DD going to France today to meet up with DS2 and some friends, hope the weather's better there. It will do her good to be away with them and I am looking forward to a few days on my own!
Second removal company didn't turn up yesterday, chap phoned to say he would be late which wasn't a great inconvenience but then he didn't turn up at all. Maybe not good to go with them.
Dentist for me this afternoon so tea will probably be soup! Taking a salad for lunch.
HH - Hope you're not suffering too much today after going back to work yesterday, take it easy.
TTFTM - What a weirdo! Hope OH gets something sorted but why do these people think they can push good, reliable staff away because they think they have 'a good idea'?
B Bird - hope DS enjoys his trip, wish it was me!
Have a good day, take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone
It's a bit damp and drizzly here this morning but hopefully it will cheer up in a little while. Just waved hubby off to work, he's not feeling the love for it this morning but I reminded him it was 'Hump Day' ,nothing rude, just means the middle of the week!:rotfl:
It's my busy day today with weigh-in in the morning, meeting my mum for lunch in the local 'spoons' and then my lovely afternoon meeting at church where I get to cuddle two beautiful babies. Unfortunately I then get to go home and make a chicken and bacon pie and catch up on some housework before hubby gets back at 6pm.
Tea last night was really lovely. The slow cooker function on my oven worked really well and the lamb was very tender. I also popped in some jacket potatoes and they were all fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. I don't know how much electricity it used though so I probably wouldn't use it too often. I have my normal slow cooker for casseroles etc which I know only uses pennies.
Well, I need to go and chivvy the girls on as they are faffing around. Hope everyone has a great day and plenty of gentle hugs available to all who would like one.
Cheers m'dears x0 -
Morning
What horrible weather, dark wet and foggy the cat won't go out lol
I've got to go out unfortunately , off to work in a mo , had a very stressful day yesterday, hopefully it will be better today
Hoe everyone has a lovely day xx0 -
Hi chums I too have a weigh-in at the local Drs this morning.
Fingers crossed I know I have lost some weight so it will be confirmed this morning. My BMI must fall quite a bit yet though
Grey and gloomy looking outside but not cold so the heating isn't on yet.
we came joint third in the pub quiz last night and only got pipped by 3 points so we all were happy bunnies:)
Right must fly as I have the school run to do first
Take care everyone
cheers JackieO xxx0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Cloudy and overcast but dry here this morning. Washing on the line.
DH up and off to work early but not stupid early.
Dinner last night was an easy fish, chips/jacket, beans/salad. Forgot to get anything out of the freezer for dinner tonight so not sure what we will be having, but I'll organise something later.
Working today just until lunchtime, then have lots of stuff to do before tomorrow. Need to pack for myself and DH and the boys. Also make sure uniforms are at least washed and on hangers to dry so I can just iron them at some point over the weekend when we get back.
Work yesterday was very busy again as normal, hoping today may be a bit slower.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
Rain here too and cold did not want to get out of bed ! TTFTM she sounds delightful, just like my old boss who was also very confrontational I worked for them for 18 years always with exceeds standards on my appraisal, I was promised a glowing reference when I left but despite being asked several times for one they still have not done it :mad: makes me soooooo mad I suppose she sees it as the last bit of power over me, I just think it makes her look petty and unprofessional. The job I am doing atm I got with no reference from them, but through sheer hard work, these bosses make me so mad I think the power goes to their heads !! Rant over
Anyhoo off to work for me today, DD at Uni and OH at work Spag bol for dinner just need to heat it through DD cooked it yesterday :T
Need to do another wash if the lot on the airer is dry.
Meant to say yesterday Nar Happy retirement enjoy xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
Damp and overcast here so far today, so the washing will go over the maiden. Fish fed, hubby & I have a cuppa each.
TTFM, I hope things get better soon for your hubby, we had someone at our place who just seemed to enjoy wielding her power because she could.
BB, I hope DS enjoys his trip.
Dumpling good luck with your weigh in.
Molly, I hope things are well with you.
LW, enjoy your doggy friends while you can.
Lazy start for me as I'm not at work til 10, I felt a bit of a fraud leaving at 2 yesterday but everyone commented on how tired I looked by then.
One of the most demanding teachers has been told to get themselves organised, when I was first out sick he drove my replacement nuts, rushing in every 2 minutes demanding assistance. She complained about him but his boss wouldn't get involved. Then at the beginning of the term all SLT had their responsibilities changed and he now reports to a different Head who has insisted he get himself organised, she nailed his bits to the floor and he's had to comply, it will make my life a bit easier.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0
