Does anyone know if DVLA would hold details, searchable by a drivers name only going back to mid/late 1960's to see what vehicle they had? In particular a motor cycle. Thanks.

It's worth firing an email off to them to ask. Find the 'contact us' button, or similar, on their web page.0

Thanks, but theres no contact button I can find, had a good look on their website for an answer to my query, couldnt find anything, so thought someone on here might have known.0

Doubt it to be honest.
Theres something in my head that says I once sent away for all the information DVLA held on a specific car, but I'm sure that didnt go back as far as when the car was new either (1985).0 -

They don't give out email addresses, but they have a series of contact forms - see if one of these fits the bill:

2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
Almost certainly not as the data protection act would legally make this impossible for them. Having said that, the DPA doesn't stop them handing out peoples details to parking companies so you never know!
With regards to emails, just hit google and search for DVLA freedom of information. Send them a request and see what they say.0 -
Do you know the registration number of the motocycle in question?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

The DPA can be overuled by the handing over of £2.50 Or is it £5?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Thanks for replies, think I need to elaborate, but without going into too many details, a friend has given a statement to the police on someone about something and person has denied having a motorbike. Just wondered if the police could find this out by searching the DVLA database by their name and/or address, not sure if they have done this. Would like to think the police have done this if possible but just a thought that it may not have been.
As I said it was in the 1960's and no idea whether the information would a) go this far back and b) be searchable by name and not registration. Nothing on the DVLA web site contact details covers this. Thanks.0 -
I suspect you will struggle as I think DVLA and centralised computer records only came in in the early/mid '70s, prior to that it was all done locally with bits of paper0

I would hazard that if someone had a motorbike in the sixties then denyied nearly nobody would care.
If the police are interested it'll been checked by now.0
