My dad wants to print off his ipad using his Epson printer. My nephew has downloaded the app that his family use but couldn't get the two to communicate. My dad has also been told that the only printers you can use with an ipad is HP this doesn't sound likely to me but he is determined to go out and buy a new hp printer. I told him to wait until I could see if I could find out more so I'm hoping one of you clever lot can give me some info about this.
Thanks
Thanks

Is it a wireless printer? Is he trying to print wirelessly? If so, does it support Apple AirPrint?
If you're not sure let me know the printer model and ill have a look for you.
If it doesn't support AirPrint and your dad already has a wireless network set up, he could buy an Apple airport express, and connect that to the printer. This will then allow him to print wirelessly.
Buying a HP printer will only work if it supports AirPrint. HP is not the only manufacturer that supports this, so ask him not to rush out.What will your verse be?

A quick Google;

And from Epson themselves;

I have a Canon MG4250 which prints from iPad via the wireless router, so it's not just HP printers.0

Follow the advice from matttye, and make sure he gets a printer that supports AirPrint0

Thanks all. His printer is a SX420w and looking at those links is not supported by the epson apps. My nephew had downloaded printer pro which is what they use at his house to print off their iphones/pads. Apparently he contacted epson for the necessary numbers and everything seemed to go fine until it went to test print the page and they kept getting an error message.
Sorry to be so vague but I'm getting everything second hand.
It looks like dad will have to get a new printer but has he prints a lot of photographs I don't want him to go for one where the ink is even more expensive than the epsons.0 -

to make sure the SX420W cannot be used with Windows, as it can be with Mac OS

If you do have to get another printer, one with six inks or more will be better for photographs. Using compatibles will reduce the cost0
