Repair coving - or at least putting it back up.

If I want to put up a coving that has fallen down...
Do I need to scrape off all the dry adhesive that was used when it was previously put up. Only there is a lot of dry adhesive solid on the coving back side. I am trying to scrape off but seems a tough job. How do I go about this. I have ordered some new coving adhesive and want to prepare for when it arrives.
Also, looking at the wall...does it need to be entirely flat or can I just stick back up as it is?

You haven't answered yet on your other thread whether or not what looks like damp/wetness is damp/wetness. If it is you need to dry it out first. Is the bathroom over where the boiler is and is the shower in that corner? You won't evade the questions by starting another thread (:D) because if you do try and put it back up there and the shower is leaking and that lot is damp it will just fall down again.

Thanks again keystone!
I have just gone to feel the wall and indeed the part where the coving has fallen from and it appears dry so I don't think dampness has caused it to fall. The shower is not above the coving here. The building is an extension from about 25 years ago and is just the ground floor so nothing above but the roof.
Like you say though, not good to put it up only to fall down again so just needed advice on whether I can use the same piece of coving but struggling to get off all the dry glue.
