Lost Pension - help please!!

Dear MSE forum users

Really hoping someone might be able to provide some genius advice for us please.
Story goes like this: Dad changed bank account to improve accessibility. He was advised by the new bank that they would deal with everything - I am a little concerned that he may have misunderstood what they were able and not able to do. Old account then closed. Pension still set up for old bank account. Pension people saying that the old bank still has this money where as they are saying because the account was closed they cannot accept it so return it back to its original destination. This has now been going on for over a month with both parties denying any knowledge of where this payment is currently residing and as a result my Dad is £900 down.

Can anybody please provide any advice that may help sort this out please? Many thanks for reading

If the original bank account was closed then it cannot be in that bank and would have been returned to DWP.
Getting them to sort anything out ---- well don't let me start on them!!!
