Hi guys and girls...

Someone bought an item from me on ebay, so whilst shopping around for postage costs I came across myHermes via the Parcel2go website..

I paid for postage, dropped it off at one of their drop off points and it was delivered..

Well, it was not delivered but left in a brown recycling bin outside the recipients property. The item quite obviously got stolen!

I have been in dispute with Parcel2go and myHermes for a few days now, and although I have sent the proof of how much the item was worth with various screen shots of ebay and paypal and also proof of drop off. They have offered me a measly £24.20, I sold the item for £105!!

They say, that is all they can offer me in terms of a refund, as I didn't take out extra insurance and didn't state the value of the item.. (How was I suppose to know to do that)
So now Im stuck with an upset buyer that I have to refund £105 because of the delivery mans mistake. Surely this is not right!! A quite obvious incompetent delivery man decided that the bin outside the property was a "secure" position.

What rights do i have?! How can I get my money back(Well the buyers money) As I cannot afford to refund the buyer, only when myHermes give me a proper refund!

You will have the same problem with any delivery company. You need to insure the item to cover the cost if the item is lost, damaged or stolen.

Its myhermes fault of course but they won't refund more than the maxium compensation for the value of the package. Its very unfair but sadly I don't think there is much you can do!

Yep people are bar stewards!

I wouldn't be surprised if the buyer nicked it, realised there was no proof of delivery and is now pushing for a refund to get the item for free. I mean who would actually rummage around in someone's recycle bin?

In future when you sell on ebay you should insure properly and try and get shipping that provides proof of delivery. People are sharks!

Someone passing by, saw the drop and picked it up after the driver left, opportunistic person. Hell, you could even follow the delivery van seeing if its been left anywhere and getting your mate to collect it after you.

Probably not the wisest decision to leave it in a bin - but then neither is under insuring a parcel. You purchase a service that transport goods worth up to £x and now want to retrospectively receive a service you previously declined! Just as much your fault as theirs/

The site asks 'Value of Contents', and if you enter a value over £20 it asks if you would like additional cover as you are only covered for that amount. Whilst the missing parcel is unfortunate, this situation is of your own making

Obviously if your sending something thats over £100 you make sure you are covered

I think my scenario is more likely than your master criminal following the Hermes man. However I accept nobody will ever know!

I left parcel2go when they dropped insurance to £20.

Sad thing is - had you sent via hermes own website - you would have at least been insured for £50

Couriers always leave items in my bin. But im honest. Had a few close shaves though, on refuse collection days.

I was out the other week and heard someone boasting how he had claimed money back from a seller after Hermes 'dumped' his parcel in the bin. "That'll teach em" was his boast.
