New home owner not transfer - how do I choose?

I've looked at the board several times.
I sold my house & moved in with family whilst I renovate an empty house.
I've booked for a gas pipe to be laid and connected but the meter is fitted by the company I buy gas from, question is who to go with?
I've also got economy 7 electric and really old meters and fuse boards, again I have to choose a supplier, any ideas?
All help very gratefully received
