Car Lease Handback Charges
Options
I just gave back my lease car and the company want to charge me £700 for the value of the repairs, they have agreed to knock this down to £500 but I still think this is far too expensive. They say the damage is out of the usual fair wear and tear policy but do they really expect you to give back a brand new car? When I spoke to the company they basically told me I don't have a leg to stand on and if I don't pay the £500 within 14 days it goes back up to £700...any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did they say what the repairs was?0

£200/panel for a scratch. Plus I imagine you scuffed the alloys and perhaps have a ding. You will have been given paperwork about this at some stage.0

Check the lease company's website - most are members of the BVRLA (who also have a website) and they have set guidelines for wear & tear which you should be able to find on the BVRLA site somewhere?
They don't expect a new car back, just one that has wear in keeping with it's age & mileage. One of the downsides of leasing I'm afraid. On the flip side, if it was your car to sell, you'd expect to be knocked down on price when selling.0
