Howden's kitchen

i am wondering if anyone can offer some advice on the above

I have quitea small kitchen and will have units on each side with a walkway in the middle

I went to Howden's and they quoted me £11000 for the units including a cooker £749 and a dishwasher price unknown, this didnt include a sink or worktops.

I will have about 5 door width on each side and top units on one wall.

This quote was much higher than I was expecting, the person at Howden's was most put out when I asked how much it was at trade as my builder would get the kitchen, he replied that this was the trade price.

Does anyone else think that this is expensive? I know a few people who have bought at Howden's and the have never said they had paid this much

thanks

    £11,000? Are you kidding?!

I need to see this quote! What % discounts have they applied to the units for you - and what range is it?

They have quoted that as a non trade customer. In reality it will be £ 2000- £3000 when proper discounts are applied.

I paid £2950 for a Howden's Greenwich range in April this year. 15 units, cooker, worktop, sink and taps.

I misread your quote as £1100!
  • You need your builder to get the quote. Tradesmen seem to get quite a varied discount, so you won't know for sure until then!

Have a look at the IKEA website, as they have a planning program and the prices will at least give you an order of magnitude for what you should pay. £11k sounds like oak with your initials and coat of arms monogrammed into every door..

It seems like you have a galley type kitchen. The price seems high but you haven't mentioned which range of kitchen. Even so without worktops and sink. Does this price include fitting? Anyways try a small independent kitchen firm. The minimum you would require is colour co-ordinated carcasses and rigid built carcasses, not pre assembled cam units sold of as rigid built units.
My point being it's a simple case of clicking your fingers and, hey presto, you have a new kitchen. That only happens when you have very deep pockets, or more money than sense.
