Which Card

Hi I really don't know what my best options are so hopefully if I explain my situation someone on here may be able to help.

In 2009 my partner and I split up. He had absolutly no idea about how to handle money so, as he was "in charge of finances" and most things were in my name (i know, bad idea) by the time I left I was in quite a lot of debt and owed money all over. I've cleared all the bad debts and the only money I now owe is on my capital one credit card, I owe £700 but this is up to date with no late payments etc for the last 4 years.

My question is I would like to transfer this amount onto a 0% balance tranfer card but I don't know which if any of the usual cards is likely to give me a card. I've checked with experian and according to them I have a good credit score with only one negative factor which is that I have a low maximum amount on my card £1000.

My annual income is just under £21,000. Sorry if this is a bit long but I've tried to be as brief as possible.
Thanks

    Hi

Try barclaycard pre eligibility checker on its website. It's s took to show you likely hood of acceptance prior to full application. It does a soft search.
They offer a platinum balance transfer card with 0% for 27 months. They normally give good limits too :-)
Just go to the barclaycard website.

    Good luck x

If you had any joint accounts with ex partner are you still showing as financially associated with him on your credit files? If so then I would file notice of disassociations first before you apply anywhere.

Who do you bank with currently?
How long a 0% period would you like? how long will it take you to repay the £700?

  • we did have joint accounts. How do I file a notice of disassociation.
I currently bank with the Halifax and would pay the £700 back in 6 months

You need to file it with each of the 3 agencies that show a financial association - here is the experian form http://www.uk.experian.com/contactforms/consumer_onlinedisassociation.html
