The bank with the most branches in Croydon

Options
My mum is looking at changing her bank account. I've shared some useful info and links with her but one of her main decision points is to find a bank with many branches and helpful opening hours. I can't seem to find this information anywhere. She basically has to pay in cash fairly regularly and - as well as the online option - she wants to be able to access an efficient branch network. She was considering M&S banking but, although the account benefits are attractive, I am concerned she won't increase her ability to access branches as they are only in certain stores (and the nearest appears to be Bromley).

Can you help?

M&S is provided by HSBC, not sure if you can use HSBC branches for paying in or not.

Even if a bank has a number of branches now in Croydon, you can't assume that the branch network won't be rationalised sooner rather than later.

Why not consider a bank that will let you transact at the Post Office?

The title asks for "most branches in Croydon". The post requires "an efficient branch network" and "a bank with many branches". Not the same thing. What good is a lot of branches just in Croydon (I seem seem to recall a few Santander branches within a couple of minutes walk).

She could do a lot worse than Nationwide (assuming "bank" does not exclude consideration of a building society).

For opening hours she won't do better than MetroBank. Not a great number of branches at present but some are fairly local (Croydon, Sutton, Bromley).

I trust that mother has looked at the costs as well as the benefits of M&S?

Natwest has branches in Centrale, the Whitgift centre and on the high street. There's also addiscombe and South Croydon. Centrale is also open on Sundays
