in Credit cards
Just got a letter informing me of a rate increase on this card from 1st December from 17.9% pa to 21.9% pa for purchases/bal transfers.
Fairly irrelevant as I never withdraw cash from this card, but curious as to why the cash transactions rate has been cut from 27.9% to 25.9%.
This is my first rate jack so no experience of this and always pay in full on this card so APR not important, but is it normal for a purchase rate increase and a cash transaction reduction to be applied at the same time?

It's unusual. But not unheard of.
Perhaps they're trying it to see if it encourages you to take very profitable cash advances.0 -
