New House New Deal

Hi folks,

I've just bought my first house! I've been living in rented accommodation for the last 6 years where the landlord has dealt with the utilities so I've been out of the loop. My initial reaction was to go to the MSE website and sign up for this great Cheap Energy Club but a lot of the info I need (current gas, current leccy, usage etc) I don't have. What's the best route to follow with my first steps? The house currently has leccy but it's connected to a meter in the basement, looks like a payment meter so I'm assuming there;s some left available ...
Any help, info or tips you can offer are really appreciated!
Many thanks

Jim
