Forum for guidance mending central heating?

My neighbour has only had heating upstairs for ages! Can anyone recommend a good forum for advice on fixing the central heating economically?
Thanks

Pam

try www.diynot.com - they have a dedicated plumbing and central heating forum and generally give sound advice.

If there are radiators downstairs that are not getting warm, it could be something as simple as a stuck distribution valve, stuck Thermostatic valves, sludge build up, air blockages etc.

Please describe the system configuration. Include boiler make/model. You'll get asked those questions wherever you post. I have to suspect a blockage leading to poor circulation but for anyone to answer on a forum considerably more data will be needed and if you are acting as a third party conduit its going to take days to do even basic diagnosis.

Your neighbours best bet is to contact the RGI he/she normally uses to service his/her boiler and get him to look at it in a hands on environment. Alternatively send yours around.

I've also got to ask - is the boiler being serviced annually? If so why hasn't the service guy found this problem before?

    Cheers

what happensd to the downstairs rads if the upstairs ones are turned off ?

if they heat up then it's most likely a balancing issue
