Train Question: online booking at GNER

Hi,

I'm living in Germany and will come to UK visiting some friends living in Selby, Yorkshire. Before and after I will stay in London. My plan:

London-Selby 7 September
Selby-London 9 September

I think the cheapest will be 2 single tickets booked 12 weeks before by https://www.gner.co.uk I could find 20 Pound return for trips in august. Hulltrains are about 30 Pound and you can't buy online.

But now my problem:

The address search database of GNER only recognises UK postcodes, and they do not deliver overseas.
Is it possible to give them a UK delivery and billing address (my friends address, they could post the tickets to me) and -for paying- my (german) Mastercard details ? I do not want to try the "fast-ticket-option"...
Thank you for any answer and excuse my bad English please.

    Welcome to MSE kumuwe!

I think your problem here will be that your billing address has to match the address that your card is registered at. Is there no way to put in your own address?

By the way, your English is fantastic! x

    Hallo!
I don't have a solution for your problem, but I just wanted to tell you that the fast ticket machine really works very well, I've used it before. You just need to input your code and get the tickets out, no queues or anything, so you might want to give it a try :)

I agree with #3. Even though I live in Britain, I always use the Fast Ticket option. It has always worked well for me, and means that I don't have to worry about my tickets getting lost in the post.

Registration Problem - Register with a UK postcode THEN change your account details to match that of your Credit Card before booking.

Afraid you'll have to use the fastticket option as none of the "usual suspects" send tickets abroad.

You don't have to say you want to pick them up at Kings Cross - you can say that you want to pick them up at any of the main London stations and you can pick them up before the day of travel.

If you really really don't want to use them then buy tickets as soon as possible when you arrive in the UK. They'll cost a lot more though though they'll be cheaper than buying on the day
  • Thank you for your answers.
