Can anyone advise me on this? I have An Ipad and a macbook pro. I'm going abroad for a few weeks and I will want to facetime my OH. I thought I would take the macbook and leave the Ipad for him. I've tried to add his email address to the facetime settings on the ipad but it wont let me because it is saying that his email is already in use. He does have an Iphone but he doesn't actually use the internet on it. At a push, I could facetime him on his Iphone but its a bit small, it would be better on Ipad. Is there a way around this?

shouldn't make a difference if he has an iphone also.
i have an ipad and iphone and when receiving a face time call via my email address, both devices ring at the same time.0 -
When you dial the email address, then all the devices linked to that email address 'ring'. Have you tried facetiming from the imac to the ipad and vice versa? If the same email address is the only one on both devices it might not work...Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0

You can't Facetime from one device to another where they are both using the same address, so either de-register the iPad from your account and re-register it on his, or Facetime his iPhone.
Yes, the screen on the iPhone is smaller than the iPad, but it works perfectly for Facetime, and there's no issue with the size affecting the image that is shown on the iPad or Macbook.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?

Thanks all. The problem I have is that the Ipad is set up for my email and his iphone is set up for his email. My ipad wont accept his email address because it is in use. Looks like I will have to facetime his iphone.:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0

Set the macbook up for his emails. That should sort it.
Once you are set up on the macbook, facetime to your ipad and then the link is made.Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0 -

It should, as long as the Macbook isn't syncing with the iPad over iCloud.
If it is, then when you add his email address to the contact on the Macbook, it will try to update that address on the other devices.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
