Decorating.... Getting someone in?

Hi all
Moved into my house about 2 years ago and have decorated the bedrooms and kitchen/diner myself. :j
However....
I now want to do the living room and stairs. There are two problems with doing this myself (apart from the fact that I'm a bit fed up with decorating now!). One is that the stairwell is very tall and I don't have the equipment or the confidence to do it myself. The second problem is that two of the walls in the living room are very badly plastered, all rough and uneven.
So I have decided to get someone in to do this for me.
My question is do I need a plasterer to skim the walls then a decorator to paint or can a good painter/decorator do it all? If the latter would it be cheaper to get one person to do it all or would it be cheaper to get a separate plasterer and decorator?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Very different skills, a good plasterer will only do that.0
