This is a vent at the idiots who work at my tax office .
About 6 weeks ago I received a letter requesting my P60's for both my jobs so they could check I was paying the right amount of tax, I work for the NHS so have a main job with them plus I do bank shifts so both jobs with the same trust paid from the same wages dept.
I duly sent off both P60's then last week I called tofind out what was happening, I was told they had only received the one for my main job, I double checked I'd sent both but they still insisted they'd only received one and I would have to get a statement if earnings from my employer.
Today I arrive home from work to a letter from them with both P60's enclosed, the letter states and I quote ' thank you for sending the enclosed P60, we have these details on record, it is the P60 for your bank job we need'
It goes on to say it should have ******* payroll no on it.
It's stapled to the back of this letter you idiots with number on it.
I can't believe the incompetence, I've worked for the NHS for 10 years so surely they should know by now if I'm paying the right amount of tax.
I shall be calling them tomorrow.

Bank is like an in house agency. They arrange temporary shifts.
I assume it derives from a bank of spare staff.0 -
Sorry should have made it clearer, it is just like doing overtime but it's paid separately like a second job for which I pay basic rate tax.Paid off so far Natwest overdraft £1900 Kays catalogue £200 Personal Loan £2500 Tax Credit £1300 J D Williams

Yes, I've had a similar problem with my tax office. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing and what's more, it doesn't care. I've lost count of the number of times they've asked me for p60's for a non-existent pension they are convinced I'm getting. The last time I sent off all the pertinent paperwork, all originals, and they lost them. They did find them eventually but then I ended up with a bill for £478! When I queried this they took me through their calculations and unfortunately they were right. It had taken a long, long time to get my tax code to the correct level and now they wanted to change it yet again to collect these arrears. So I opted to pay it off in a lump sum so my code wasn't affected. The bloke I spoke to about the bill was very dismissive, not actually rude but not far short, speaking to me like I was some kind of idiot until I offered to pay it all off, then he was "Oh yes Mrs Joansgirl, that would be wonderful Mrs Joansgirl". Two faced !!!!!!!
Some people only exist as examples of what to avoid....0
