Livingroom in need of fresh wallpaper. Was going to b&q but got told to avoid them and shop elsewhere. No decent reason was given, but would appreciate any recommendations. Thanks

We bought a black/silver tree wallpaper from Homebase. It looks really really nice and was lovely to use.

There was a programme on Tv last night about the history of wallpaper , the way over the years it had gone out of fashion and then come back in. And they were showing the different techniques that have been used over the years to make cheap 'chip' paper to expensive 'flock' This little shop they were in had handmade designer stuff, the presenter asked how much and was casually told about £300 a roll.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

I'd avoid B&Q because it's average. There aren't enough styles of wallpaper in the DIY sheds for us all to have something different. If you're not looking for something pretty unique then B&Q will probably suit you in the same way that it suits most people.
We have 'Brewers' near us. The branches have books and books of wallpaper samples. They are the same company as the website 'wallpaper direct' - that website is like an encyclopedia of wallpaper.
And John Lewis. Full of books of classic styles.
Al of the place I've mentioned you need to order it in. You won't pick it up off the shelf.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Usually buy from Brewers but on a panic job my wife picked a paper in B&Q. On the label,Recycled paper printed in Poland. No reason why it should be cr-p but on hanging it the plain paper had a very odd musty smell and the patterned paper was overtrimmed by about 4mm, so wouldn't match neatly. Now completely redone. On pointing this out in the store the young lady didn't seem to understand what I was complaining about but I noted a few days later that all the papers had been removed from the shelves.0

Well there's a great little decorator's merchant in Tannery Close, Elmers End, Kent, BR3 4BY that does a huge range of stuff, from £10 to £300 a roll.0
