help ! self assessment for child benefit tax

can any one please help answer this as no luck in getting through to HMRC.
have to register for self assessment due to child benefit changes, but youngest daughter stopped getting child benefit on 2nd September as she finished full time education.
So I am assuming the period of child benefit I am liable for is from jan 2013 to 2nd September 2013.
If that is right ,on the self assessment form it asks for the date the income started from ....so is this January or is it the date the child benefit for her started ( 1995 !!)
any advice gratefully received

No not 1995. The new rules began on 7th Jan 2013, so essentially there is the period from Jan - 5th April 2013 and then from 6th April to 2nd September 2013. That is all you need to worry about time frame wise.0
