Had to buy a new dryer but got a problem already lol

Some of you may know that my old dryer broke anyway long story short i picked up a second hand one on ebay at a bargain price.
I have a new problem already lol
I put the vent hose into the back where the hole is but the steam isn't coming out of the hose like it did on my old dryer, now i'm not sure if i need to buy some kind of vent hose adapter or do i just push the hose in the hole?
It's an Indesit tumble dryer (model number G71V) if that helps.
