If I was selling and the buyer was cherry picking the survey (along the lines of "well I want all of the bad points investigated without telling you any of the good points") I would get worried that they are trying to line up a last minute price drop, which lets face it, isnt uncommon, and I would tell them right now,
1) give us full access to the survey, and we can take it from there
2) exchange at the agreed price and then get all of the extra checks done post exchange
3) dont get any checks done.
4) go and find another house.
dont forget, all the news coming out at the moment is that prices are rising, if the OP plays silly beggers now, they could be out of luck.0 -

Which is fair enough if they did ask for a price drop, but I think it should be requested on a 'if and when' basis, not an attempt to pre-empt. From what the OP has said, they are viewing their damp survey as akin to getting a builder to quote for an extension or a a sparky for a re-wire. Not necessarily things that effect the price, but good to know what the options are before exchange.0
