I notice my leather boots are starting to wear a little. At first i thought i must have funny feet but apparently all/most people show heel wear towards the rear outer edge more !
So what are the options?
Heel looks like tacked on rubber block, sole is leather.
Fit Blakeys segs ? metal or rubber? I notice they now have their own website.
DIY glue on sole/heel?
Cobblers if you can find one.. or Timpsons?
How much is a heel and/or sole repair job these days?

Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

I take my shoes to the cobblers. We have two in town that I can think of. Plus as you say Timpsons. We have one in a Sainsburys which might be Timpsons. We also have one in our local Co-Op Extra who is independent. I don't "think" he is anything to do with the Co-Op.
I pay around £5.00 for my work flats to be re-healed.0 -
We have a couple of very good independent cobblers near us, plus several branches of Timpson. We prefer the inde guys for quality of work & v.f.m. New leather soles & heels for my DH's Loake shoes (worn daily) & boots are £20 every 18-24 months.
Try Timpson if you don't have an independent cobbler locally - it will be cheaper than a new pair!0 -
Def try and find a cobbler. My DH paid £14 to have new leather heels and soles on his shoes.0

I would like to add that my £5.00 heels are definitely not leather :rotfl: They are M&S Footglove.0

Hi I used Timpsons following a botched DIY repair on a pair of boots, it was £5 to glue sole back to shoe and £20 last time I did a re sole.
If your'e glueing stuff back together, use a DIY vice to keep sole on overnight whilst glue sets, I tried doing it with pegs and it didn't work! Good luck.0 -
can I pop in and as a question, Ive some clarks fexi sole boots that I love had them about 7 years and the sole is very very thin now, could they resole them do you think and the heels needs looking at too
I had them in clarks sale years ago so had moneys worth but if I can make them last bit longer I'll be thrilled!!!:A :j0 -
Decided wear was only lsight so bought some Blakeys from ebay, job done ! I wonder why human shoes tend to wear the heel on the outside back edge first?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Timpsons are usually expensive compared with independents in places like markets etc.
I recently got one of my knee-high leather hush puppies boot's zips replaced, Timpsons wanted to charge me £20! and take two weeks  (I paid £60 for the boots so if the other zip goes I might as well have bought a new pair!)
My local cobbler did it for £8 within 48 hours.
As for soles/heels, metal lasts longer but is *very* slippy. I once got a pair of metal replacement stiletto heels - never again! It was like walking on a sheet of ice on anything smoother than Tarmac. Rubber is much grippier but wears out much more quickly.“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. Hi - I'm a cobbler and I would recommend:
a) Quarter tip heel. This means replacing the whole heel but the new heel has a flush large metal tip which is a quarter of an inch thick
b) Blakeys segs are great. Got some going spare if anyone wants some drop me a line. These are chunks of metal in various shapes and sizes that will go straight in shoes without the need to reheel. It is always best to get a cobbler to do them to make sure they are fitted correctly and to ensure that they stay in and don't kick out.
c) thin stainless steel plate nailed on with individual nails.
Drop me a line if anyone needs advice or shoe repairs. I have a mobile service.C_Mababejive wrote: »I notice my leather boots are starting to wear a little. At first i thought i must have funny feet but apparently all/most people show heel wear towards the rear outer edge more !

Bumping this thread. I have some boots that look a bit like this.
I've had the worn heels replaced, is it possible to have the sole of the main boot replaced now? It has worn right through, but the leather frame is intact. If so, what would be a reasonable price? I paid £6 for the heels.
Otherwise, where can I find a pair like it that isn't going to cost me a fortune?
ETA: Timpson has just quoted me £15.99 but I'm not sure it's doable.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
