argos returns and money back voucher

I bought the Challenge lawn mower last month. Made a coupole of other purchases tp qualify for the £10 voucher.
Used it once and the rotten thing wouldn't go.
Emptied the petrol tank and took it back to the shop - 20 mile round trip.
They checked the tank and sent me home with it to push a rag into the tank to remove every last vestige of fuel for safety reasons.
Haa, big sigh, but off I go.
Get home, flush the system through with water, dry it as well as I can, given the odd shape of the tank.
Took it back today, they looked at the tank, tipped the mower around to look in every nook and cranny, and said,'I'm sorry you'll have to take this home and bring it back when it's completely dry'
I refused, explained what I had done, and after several refusals and mentioning statutory rights, they took it.
Then they ran the details through the till and said that I would have to repay the voucher, as this then put the original transaction below the amount required to receive vouchers.
This despite the fact that I wanted a replacement! Because the replacement was being purchased on a different date, and the voucher scheme is now over.

I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

I had the same problem with a faulty adaptor, they took the £5 voucher even though I had been put out.
I complained to Argos head office and got a cheque for £20!
Cheers Paul0 -

Should really be irrelevant that you were essentially repurchasing on a different date, I dont know of many retailers who would not honour the promotion just because the item was faulty. After all it was hardly your fault.
I would mail them and complain. You may be as fortunate as Paul24 hours in a day. 24 beers in a case ... coincidence? :beer:0 -
I bought a paper shredder from ARGOS and it broke down; got a replacement and that broke down.
Returned to shop and they would not believe me that a second one was faulty. They then attempted to prove that their display model was OK, thereby proving it must be the way that I was using it. Guess what? Their display model worked for a few seconds and broke down!
Amazingly, they still tried to blame me claiming their own shredder was OK, and it was the socket that was faulty. I then insisted that they plug their display model into another socket. They did so and it didn't work!
I then got my money back!0 -

I cant believe that shop, not that I am complaining I bought a HUGE tent for £20 that I didn't need, I had no reciept obviously so I took it to my local argos and told them it was not waterproof on the seam, they ummed and ahhhhed then gave me £149.99 cash.
I know it's cheeky and I am not complaining about this kind of service however it annoys me that I could have a legit problem with an item like you guys and it seems you have to work really hard to get a replacement let alone a refund!!!!!Running total for swagbucks - £270 since Jan
