How do you organise your advents?

Although I have been comping on here for about 5 years, I have never previously bothered with the advents. Perhaps entering the odd one or two here and there, but not having a system for doing loads every day.

I am thinking that this year, I will give them a go. I want to just bookmark the ones that I am interested in, rather than going through the thread. I seem to recall last year people were talking about how they do this. Some people had different folders for ones that needed to be done early in the day and others that could be left until late at night.

So, for those of you that have previously bookmarked advents, my question is how do you have your folders set up?

Any tips gratefully received.

I have a whole load of bookmarked folders; dailys 1, dailys 2 and so on, then blogs 1 etc. I just create a whole load of numbered advent ones when the time approaches. I also have folders for ones that are later in the day as usually I do the bookmarks first thing in the morning and some are later starting. So I have a dailys later folder and will have the same for advents. Each folder has about 5 or 6 comps in it and I click to open all in tabs. So it makes it quick and easy without overloading the computer with too many screens open. If you set up a good system now for bookmarks and dailys then when advents come along you'll be ready for them.
Many thanks to everyone who posts competitions and works so hard to provide all the answers!

I am almost identical to purple45. I have different folders labelled eg Advents FB early
    Advents FB late
    Advents site early
    Advents site late etc
    Advents Weekly
    Advents Twitter etc...

So I enter the comps in the 'early' folders first thing in the morning then enter the comps in the 'late' folders in the afternoon/evening.
I have already got my folders set up ready as I would think towards the end of Oct the Advents will start to be listed.

I used to subscribe to each advent and opt to be notified by email when someone added to each thread but last year I found people were posting, eg 'thanks I won yesterday's prize etc' and I was being inundated with pointless email notifications! So this year I will not opt in for instant notification by emails!
:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea

I just enter them form the comp boards

    Advent Thread
    Daily Thread
    Daily Mags

And when new comps are posted on the main board.

    Boring but works for me

I didn't bother last year apart from 1 or 2 companies I was really interested in - I barely entered even normal comps last Dec but did have a mad bash through the ones ending 31/12 right at the end of the month.

I don't like to be too tied down or stressed by entering. Won't win as much but need to keep relatively sane :D

I do the same as purple and bluebella...lots and lots of bookmark folders...the 'open all in tabs' button saves an awful lot of clicking :)
  • I just bookmarked them in an Advents folder; nothing too complicated, and just worked through them each day.

I did a lot last year, but only won one small prize. A win's a win 'n all that, but not sure if I'll bother this year. I might only do them when I'm bored.

I just thought I would tell you that I never ever won any advent comps, but last year I won a few, was really surprised & over the moon. You never know this year could be your year

Yeah, that's probably what will make me do some advents ... the thought that it could be my year (though I doubt it somehow ...)

Congrats on your advent wins

I would also like to add that I do cut down on many of the dailies I do on here throughout the year - like the mag dailies. I just find that I am too busy on the run up to christmas and would have to be comping almost 24 hours to keep up with everything - dailies, Advents etc!

I do look forward to the Advents but have to admit that come Boxing Day I am so relieved they are over!

    FB advent

Then work my way through everything else, only for prizes that are 'good' high value - nothing like children's.

I'm also trying to get on top on december normal comps too. :/
