Hi all
This concerns my elderly mother who has had a letter from RBS regarding her reclaiming PPI insurance which I think is probably a standard letter they are having to send out to everyone.
It does not actually state that she was mis-sold PPI and its been some years since she had loans/mortgage and has destroyed all relavant paperwork.
Looking at the letter/form sent it would seem she would need specific information in order to make a claim.
My question would is, can she request any copies of any loans etc she may have had is there any other way round it at all .. ?
Many thanks to all

Yes she can. She can send a freedom of information request into them and enclose a cheque for £10 to cover the costs. Some banks charge for it and others don't.0

Hi:)
If there is a number on the letter give them a call.
My letter from Barclays had a number for the PPI team, they were very helpful and had details of all account/policy numbers to hand and gave me these along with the total loan amounts paid.
I thought I had claimed my PPI in 2010, but somehow it hadn't been repaid to me, just another loan arranged without the PPI, so I have now received £16k for the 3 refinanced loans:beer:
Hope this helpsBOS - 2 x Loan PPI 14/11/09upheld 5505.62 + 591.72 Barclays - 31/03 Loan PPI & Overdraft PPI Upheld £28000

Freedom of information act applies to Government. It is the data protection act that applies to companies. However, yes, that is the way to do it.
The information returned will also not show whether it was mis-sold or not. It will only show what records they currently hold on a relevant filing system.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Freedom of Information requests relate to the right of private citizens to request information from government or public bodies. They have nothing to do with asking your bank for info on loans. You mean a Data Subject Access Request.0
