santander / Alliance & Leicester PPI

Options
Hi all

Just wanted to share some info with your goodselves.

Back in October of last year a very dear friend of mine put in a ppi claim for Barclays over the last 15 years or more with relation to her loans. Anyway, few letters later in January of this year she thought she would be rewarded with about £4k she actually got a cheque for £14k. Very good news indeed.:beer:

Anyway mentioned we have never had anything as big as loans only credit cards and the mortage. So I got to work. Pulled out my Alliance and Leicester mortgage file to see if there was anything that jumped out on all my statements from 1997 to 2005. I could not see a thing and thought ohwell maybe I never did have PPI. Something was bugging me though. I rang Santander who was very very helpful and said they would take down details and look into this for us. Low and behold in august we had a letter to see they was looking into it for us and to bare with them with timing. Had a phone call then on 12th august to ask a few questions, answered them as honestly as I could and she said she would be in touch. Still heard nothing.

Phone rang 2 weeks ago at home , Santander to say, " Did you receive our offer" ??? Said I had nothing from you. Looked like it got lost in the post and they offered us

£1,229.57

Well, I was shocked. All paperwork sent out that day, read through everything and sent back with proof of i.d. and residentail status. That was it. Had the payment in the bank account on friday. I couldn,t believe me luck. So we did have ppi on our mortgage with Alliance & Leicester after all.

So, moral of the story is.... If your are unsure just like us still follow it through you never know.

Good luck guys
:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling

Most MPPI does not appear on mortgage statements or documents. It is usually a standalone direct debit direct to the insurer from your current account.

Most MPPI complaints are rejected by both lender/broker and FOS. However, a small amount do get upheld. In your case, given the amount and short timescale, it is probably an auto-payout without investigation.
