There are a lot of things that are intrinsically unfair about the system. Student finance aren't the people to complain to about these though as the system is dictated by the government. Your MP is a better target for these complaints. I just can't believe that the maintenance loan isn't inflation linked. I am stuck in some old cohort and I receive the same amount of loan as someone would have got in 2008 despite this being 2013 now. I used an inflation calculator and it said an equivalent amount now would be over 600 more and that only included inflation up until the end of 2012. I'm not sure if the new loan system now incorporates loan increases in line with inflation.

I agree that student accommodation is expensive, but because many students go to universities which aren't close to their homes they have no choice but to pay, and I think that many landlords and letting agents use this to their advantage. Whilst looking for a student house during my second year I found one property which was advertised on a both a student accommodation website and Rightmove, the only difference was that the advert on the student website was £50 pm more expensive.

And this is wrong why? Why do you expect other people to pay for your kids to go to Uni?

You'd rather everyone else coughed or for your kids to go to uni? Why should I pay for your kids clothes, books, booze, travel, etc???

Well, taxpayers are coughing up for almost everything else... 'Help to Sell', sorry 'Help to Buy' etc comes to mind.

Well, I don't think the kids of well off people need or should get tax payers money...(no idea what the housing market has to do with this thread???) Martin Lewis has millions - should his kids get tax payers money????

If we gave less money to the kids who don't need it - we could give more to those who really do...
