Identity theft query

Someone has used my name and a previous address to take out new contracts with three mobile companies.

I've contacted each providers fraud dept to block and advise them that this is nothing to do with me. All but EE have advised that the numbers will be blocked and nothing will appear on my credit rating. (bills have been run up and unpaid, as you'd expect)

My query however is simple, due to EE being totally useless. assuming the lines aren't blocked and I'm being messed about. At worst, will this affect the credit rating on the address or my name?

Many thanks.

  • Your address doesn't have a credit rating, so your house doesn't need to worry about anything.

However, you do, so you need to pursue EE, advising them you did not take out the agreement and ensure it does not appear on your credit files. Raise it as a fraud issue.
