Hi,
I was hoping that you guys could have a look at my wedding budget and see if it looks realistc.
Fees for the registrar £400
Flowers £100 I have priced up the ones I want and they come to £86 (that includes bridal bouquet, three bridesmaids bouquets, grooms button hole, best man button hole, four ushers buttonholes and two button holes for dads) from an ebay seller recommended on the big tips sticky.
Photography £500
Stationary, printing & posting.£150
Gifts for bridesmaids £60 No clue if we’ll bother with this, but £60 seems doable.
Gifts for parents £10
Wedding cake £100
Catering, food, drink (and room hire included) £3000
DJ £200
Wedding insurance £50
Honeymoon including spending money £1600 One week in Italy.
Brides ring £150
Grooms ring £100
Wedding dress £600
Brides shoes and accessories £50
Bridesmaid dresses and acessories £150 From Ebay
Groom and best man suite hire £200
Total £7510
So is it realistic? Hope you can help
Thanks

Where are you getting £400 for the registra fees? It should be closer to £100 if you are getting married in a registry office. Even my friends who got married in a public venue only paid £90.Deliver us from email....0

All those flowers for 100 quid!!! Wow, that is a bargain!
Seems good to me, thats about what I paid in total too. When are you getting married? Have you included transport for you and groom in that price? Our dream has come true...

oh, one thing i just noticed is you have no favors listed on there?
when is your big day? mine is a week on saturday!!! eek :eek:Deliver us from email....0 -
That is very similar to what I spent and doable if you are careful. One thing I see that is missing is transport, are you driving your own cars? Things like the cake budget will depend on how many people you are feeding etc. It is unbeleivable how little cake you get for £100 (unless you make your own of course) . I spent about £130 on 'normal' cake for 100 guests. I had 3 white chocolate cakes on 3 glass cake stands, they were from a great local french bakery (this is in London).
Fees for the registrar vary locally.
Does your budget for stationary and posting include thank you cards?
Read all the fine print on the wedding insurance and see what it covers, I didn't bother with it myself.0 -
I kind of plucked to registar fees out of the air, I thought I'd read somewhere on here about people paying up to about £250, so thought I'd put a bit extra on top to be certain. But now I can take some of that money and add it to the cake.
The flowers are fake ones from Sarahsflowers2 on ebay, they have been recommended several times on this website and on hitched, and they look gorgeous.
No transport because we plan to get married and have the reception all in one place, so I can't think of any need for a fancy car. I'll stay the night before at the hotel anyway.
Can someone explain the whole "wedding favour" thing. I really don't think my guests need bags of sugared almonds, I am at a total loss to see what the point is but I'm sure there must be one or nobody would bother.
I'm really excited because I got a few quotes in today from a couple of the venues I like, and they actually do seem to be coming in on budget!
The wedding is not until October 2008, so I've got 71 weeks of planning to go!0 -
I've just started to plan our wedding too...sooooo easy to spend money on - well not so important things. I think your budget looks good.
Do you have a specific dress in mind? I just started 'looking' and came across with oxfam. They got donated dresses from designers and retailers for £250, might be worth checking and saving few pounds. It would also support a charity and if you wanted, you could donate your dress for another charity or sell afterwards.
Anyway- congratulations.0 -
Favours are traditional, the almonds represent fertility, health, wealth and sother things which I cant remember. I didnt want almonds yuk so I had a gift bag for each couple included a cake bubble thingy, chocolates and a miniture bottle of Dooleys liquor or Jack Daniels and a lucky dip lottery ticket.
I just wanted to do something different.
Good luck!

You can pay me £600 for my wedding dress if you want! it cost £1200 :eek:Just owe Dad £2500 for a new car

I think wedding favors are just a little way to say thank you to your guests for sharing in your day.
We have gone for tea with a poem about tea and giving thanks as well as a tube of love hearts. Our friends did lottery tickets, some did chocolate dregees, and one of our friends did perfume samples. It is up to you but some people like them as a memento of the day.
If you have a chairty close to your heart you could give ribbons or pins to everyone there as they will then know you have donated to that charity.
My flowers were also from an ebay seller, bridalworkshop(??) i think. Posy, dolly bag, hairband, 8 button holes and 2 corsages cost £60 and they are wonderful.
I will do a post once our day is over and give you an idea of all of our costs. we are expecting them to be about £1500 inc food and drinks!Deliver us from email....0 -
Also included in stationary you need to include a Table Plan, place cards, thank-you cards for after the wedding.
What about decorations for the room ? like flowers or balloons, your list seems a bit scarce and you may find you need to buy extra things. We had a big church tradtional wedding with a wedding breakfast for 60 guests and evening reception for over 100 at Bosworth Hall Hotel. We had balloon trees in the marquee, we had fresh flowers everywhere. It cost about 10k.
Your venue maywell include lots of extras like menus, table plan and place cards.Just owe Dad £2500 for a new car
