Kitchen Worktops - South London

Hi all,

I'm hoping someone on here can offer me some advice. I am looking to replace my kitchen and am now just left trying to source some decent worktops.

My budget does not stretch to granite and as much as I would love to get real wood, I think the maintenance might be an issue.

So, that leads me towards laminate. I am after a high quality oak-effect and have gathered from this forum that Duropal is the best quality for that.

Is that still the case? And does anyone know any suppliers of Duropal in the South London area? I am near Clapham but am happy to travel around.

Thanks!

I got solid oak from here about 4 years ago. I used OSMO products to first seal and then wax....very easily applied with a paint brush. The osmo seals much better than any oil and repels most stains. It has sustained the odd dent and scratch but I am not the most careful person and I certainly don't lavish complex care on it.
the workshop will cut to order...do the edges and cut outs for sink/cooker.

I have duropal and I am very pleased with it . You can order samples from the website free of charge. Also John Lewis had samples on display and a kitchen fitted with it (Stratford branch August 2012).

That's great, thanks. I will pop into John Lewis and see if I can find some on display. I have ordered some samples from the website but they are only the outer laminate and don't really show how the final product will look, which is what I was really after.

    Thanks for the help!

Send me a private email and I could send photos of mine .

Not completely answering the question, but I had such excellent service at a very competitive price from these people: http://www.cglgranitesales.com/
What's more, I am nowhere near them, but you are! Their granite compared on price with much cheaper worktops - partly because they make a "virtue" of what some might perceive as flaws.
