Halifax Clarity Card Renewal

Options
How long before expiry date of the card do you get a new one? My card expires 12/13, but I go away at the end of November and do not return till the New Year, so I need my new card before I go away. If I ring Halifax, will they issue my new card earlier?

  • I would imagine they would renew it for you early if you explain.

They were slow in sending me a replacement when my old one was close to expiring and indeed I telephoned them about my concern and they sent me one shortly after that.

If you think that they might say no to your request, you could always tell them you lost the card (little white lie).
You may question anything I say. Just be polite, otherwise you go straight on to my Ignore List, which funds a good old fashioned knees-up every Xmas. Cheers;)

Only problem is if if I tell the LWL, I get a new number which I don't want.I'll give them a ring.
  • You should get a new number anyway.
The account number would stay the same but the long number should change. Every "new" card I have had has anyway.

I have never had a new CC number when my card has been renewed unless it is to replace a lost or stolen card. The account number is the 16 digit number on the card which remains the same. The only dates that alter are the start and expiry date.

    That would concern me.

I may be wrong but I was under the impression the long number changed. It certainly does with my current accounts! If it's the same number, why bother having an expiry date at all? Not exactly very secure, but then I guess it changing every 3/4 years isn't either.

I have never had the long number change either where a replacement card was issued due to expiry.

The only items I have seen change are obviously the new expiry date and also the 3 digit security code on the rear.

I would caution against reporting the card lost, as if you should genuinely lose the card in the future there would then be two 'losts' on your record. One might be seen as an accident whereas two might be seen as careless. :rotfl:

I had a new Clarity card a few weeks ago, and the long number has changed from the old card.
