Monday 30th September - What Small DFW Things Will You Be Doing Today

Options
When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

    Debt-free and Proud!
Morning, a bit weary this morning as DS was up quite a lot in the night.
    Todays agenda is-
    *school run- on foot
*withdraw money for remainder of kids groups for month.
*new kids toothbrushes from savers not boots.
*bake foccacia for lunch with friends tomorrow to save me buying french sticks.
*call AA and confirm new cover.
    *check bank accounts
    * mini toads in the hole for tea. DH says he is bored on noodles, cous cous and rice so I am aiming to not use them this week which may be tricky.

  • Good Morning everyone,

    This morning I have

    - Checked bank - no surprises although awaiting some debits and credits to update.
    - Made packed lunch for lunch
    - Watched Breaking Bad :D

    Today I will

    - Have a NSD
    - Phone Virgin Media to downgrade my internet speed to save some money
    - Change some Direct Debit dates so they are closer to my pay day.
    - Use cashback/comparison to check OHs car insurance.

If I'm able to complete that list then I'll tackle some more things on my 'Do' list.

Have a great day everyone :)

Keep going, you will get there!

    Morning all,

It's Monday, sigh. Really not a huge fan of that 'M' feeling:

    The List:

:staradmin Check online banking accounts. Done

:staradmin Look at Tesco discount vouchers to see if any are of any use. I know I post loads of offers on here every week but I don't make use of them unless they're what we actually need!
    Done

:staradmin Look on online library catalogue for book.
    Done. Still unavailable.

:staradmin Get the washing outside in the high winds.
    Done

:staradmin Pick rose from the garden for indoors.
    Done

:staradmin Set OH's bramble jam that is sitting there looking watery and forlorn. Oh dear, she tried so hard.
    Done

:staradmin Try on two pairs of Winter casual trousers for fit. I haven't been wearing them because they're cargo pants with a zillion pockets and they're a b****r to iron. And I have put off trying them on in case they didn't fit!
    Done. Thank G-d they fit!

    :staradmin Enter ten Facebook competitions.

:staradmin Work out what to do with 2 litres of free Alpro 'milk'.

    Freebies:

    :staradmin Free (?) Maltesers. (Link)

:staradmin Freebies for Manchester students tomorrow. (Link)

    :rudolf:Christmas: :rudolf:

I'm not hugely into Christmas. However, OH is so I make a bit of an effort. Trying to get it all planned a.s.a.p. so I can forget about it.

:staradmin Found three books OH gave me last year that are still untouched. Will read one and the other two can be wrapped up and given to me again this year. Usually I've read them all by the Summer, not sure what happened this year...

:staradmin Make wrapping paper to wrap what we have so far. Use enormous stack of coloured printer paper we've been squirreling for ages and crafty bits given by a friend.
    Done

:staradmin Find gift tags, tape and cards left over from last year.
    Done

  • Hello again you guys! :)

    So far today I have:
    • completed my invoice for last week
    • been to the bank
    • done an up-to-date budget for the next month
    • bought a mop
    • mopped the kitchen
    • tidied around the house and given everywhere a quick hoover
    • been blagged by my 2yr old into buying a (cheap) dvd! :o
    • done a cupboard checklist and meal planned for the week ahead, so I don't have to go the shops and spend lots this week on shopping. Hoping for a very cheap shopping week.
    Still to do today:
    • Make a quick, easy and cheap lunch for myself and my son.
    • swap sky cables over to a freesat box, as my sky subscription ends today! :T Very happy as I will no longer be paying for their tv service - approx. £30/month better off.
    • Do the ironing :(
  • Hi everyone

    Hope you’re all hunky dory.

Things here are going quite well. I’ve been getting right into Law of Attraction/positive thinking stuff. Doing wonders for me. :)

    Here’s me:
    :D PAD to cc
:D Paid OH’s tax rebate into joint a/c – not his personal one :p
:D Ordered flowers for garden with 50% off and then a 20% off code – both worked! Result!
:D Ordered first crimbo pressie – saved about £9 on the price I saw in it a shop before I ordered it online – always worth checking before forking out
    :D Won a comp at work :T
:D Signed up for sharesave - £80 a month x 3 years. Last time I doubled my money so fingers crossed the same thing happens this time round :T
    :D Cheapo porridge pot brekkie
    :D Packed lunch
:D Bought cheapo multipack crisps rather than 70p a pop from machine at work
:D Planning living room curtains – will order material from e bay and handy dressmaker aunt will make them :T
:D Use last day of weekly bus pass – working from home tomorrow rather than today – can stay at home tomorrow and don’t need new ticket until Weds ;)
