EDF nightmare. 9 months of hell.
I'm looking for some advice on where I can take this matter as I'm seriously fed up now! In December last year I phoned EDF and asked to go onto their blue promise plan. In January I noticed that no direct debit had been taken, so I phoned EDF and was told that I was actually in credit so not to worry. Then in February the same thing happened, and again in March. Then in April i received an enormous 6 months bill! I contacted them again and they said that for 'some reason' I hadn't been billed in December so now I had a huge bill to pay. I set up a new direct debit for £106 per month at that point. Then in June I got a letter stating I must pay £298 immediately, which we scraped together and paid. We were then assured our balance was back to zero and we set up a new direct debit for £86 a month. But then in July they took £384!! They said that the £298 that I had paid in June was part 1 of 2 instalment, then they added the £86 dd on top!!!! So I phoned them again, reversed the dd with my bank as i didn't have the money. All this time inward constantly checking my balance online and submitting monthly metre readings. So in July my balance was zero as I'd been advised, then when I queried this massive overcharge they said I hadn't been billed again, so they 'forced' a bill and I ended up again with a debt of £400. So then after many calls they said I would need to arrange a payment plan for the debt, £34 a month then my normal dd which is now £89 and it will take about a year to clear. So August came, and they took £89 + £34, great it's sorted I thought. Then the next week they took another £34. I called them and at this point I was furious, I spoke to a manager who apologised, she said the payment plan dd had been set up as weekly instead of monthly. She assured me it would be put right, and as a goodwill gesture she refunded me £25 to cover cost of phone calls to my bank etc. Today I have just checked my account, and once again they have cocked up, they've taken £121 plus another £34. Where can I go with this?? I have a few screenshots from my account over the last few months, I have names and dates from calls. I'm fed up now, I want to take this further, none of this is my fault and I'm now n debt with them so can't leave! They can see how often I have phoned and logged online to my account, its not like I'm just not paying my bills!!!

Your not the only one struggling to get some common sense with EDF.
I'm still trying to speak to someone about the fact they are charging me twice for one lot of electric! Despite the fact i'm on a PPM that THEY fitted.
Sorry my post was no use, All i can suggest is that its a long process so you might want to start with their complaints department!!Future goals:
Become debt free.
Beat Depression.
Be happy & healthy0 -
It's hard to tell from your post whether you are arguing about how much you paid or should have paid or didn't pay. have you actualy checked your bills against meter readings and actual usage.
If you've had a couple of estimates and you've not checked and corrected them or don't have any idea of how much fuel you've used then it's really difficult to decide whether you've been hard done by or just let the bills get so out of sync with your usage that you've got to try and sort it out and get back onto an even keel again, which means not only paying for arrears but what you are currently using as well - which can double or even treble your DD payments if you've managed to rack up a decent debit balance. Telling us what you've paid or been asked to pay is irrelevant unless we know what you've used and what tariff you are on and how much arrears you might have.
Take charge - read your meter regularly and give the supplier a reading every month and check the bills carefully to make sure that they are correct and that you are paying for what you are using. If you give them regular readings then you shouldn't get estimated bills - simplesNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
