How to hint your willing to do a deal outside ebay in the listing???
Ballistic
Hi. Im selling some stuff and honestly ebays 10% fee is really cutting into my profit, especially now they want a cut of postage!!, Sometimes i barely break even. Anyway i know its against there rules to put somethong like "i can sell directly thru paypal and knock off £5" or something along these lines. So i was wondering if there was something i could put in the listing that gives it away but at the same time wont get me banned or anything like that. ??

Your competitors will report you with even a slight excuse. Dont sell on ebay if the fees are too high.
If your a business seller then buyers will have your contact details anyway. When you send the items, Pop a compliment slip in with your website details and state its cheaper than ebay due to less fees.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
You could state the item was being listed elswhere -and also list on gumtree- although I find it a waste of time , although not money , as it's free.0

Its really quite unfair of ebay, considering they own paypal so they are making a cut both ways. They make 3+% from there paypal operation and 7+% from there ebay operation all from 1 item!!0

Well use gumtree then.....0

You're paying for a service if you don't like it don't use it. Do you knock a few percent off your tax return if you think it's too high? Send £20 less for your electricity bill? Fill your car up with £50 of petrol and go in and see if they'll take £30?Its really quite unfair of ebay, considering they own paypal so they are making a cut both ways. Try "I don't mind using Ebay to sell stuff but, you know it's a bit costly isn't it? So if you don't mind sending me cash in a brown envelope and waiving your buyer protection I'll send your goods out, I might not pay any postage though, I mean have you seen the price of stamps?".0 -
Sellers are protected just the same thru paypal.0

You're not comparing like with like. Ebay are not offering any material return for the fact that they now charge an additional 10% on postage. Its sheer profiteering. Previously they provided the same service without charging on top of postage, now they do.
To use your analogy it would be like filling up with £50 of petrol then being charged another fiver 'service charge' without any material improvement in the petrol or the service. Yes you can fill up elsewhere but it's still profiteering.0 -

eBay and Paypal are businesses, run to maximise profits for their owners and/or shareholders and not for the benefit of their customers.
If they feel that they can increase these profits by raising or changing their fee structure, then like any sensibly run business, this is exactly what they will do.0 -
