Mum was in the area (local one doesn't do car tax) so picked it up. It was dated for September - so a whole months worth of tax paid just for about 3 hours worth of driving.
Great.
If it expires September 2014, that is 12 months (ie. from 1st 0ctober 2013 to 30 September 2014). A licence taken out from September 2013 will expire in August 2014.0 -

The end of October is 13 months away.
I already said my tax disc for a newly acquired car was also bought on 30 Sept and ends on 30 Sept.
How can that not be a year? I can't think of an easier way of removing this temporary confusion. What happens with your birthday or any other anniversary - same month each year. They are exactly a year apart, and any period that includes the same date(s) twice is longer than a year.0 -
Everything is absolutely correct and just as it should be.
Reminds me of Shakespeare's As you like it & Much ado about nothing.
End of thread.
Nothing to see here.
Move along now folks.0 -

Ok, there's a difference between it saying 01/09/14 and 30/09/14. You have not paid for a months tax for 3 hours of driving!
You paid tax to drive it on 30/09/13, and for 1 year, that is twelve months, not 11 months - the tax doesn't run out on 31/08/14. Nor does it run out in 13 months - on 31/10/14, no, it runs out in twelve months, on 30/09/14. You haven't been diddled, conned, or lost out, you're just trying to change the number of months in a year from 12 to 13!1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0
