Fight with Arrow over a default

Options
Hi, I checked my credit score a few months ago and noticed a default and an outstanding balance of £175 had been put on almost two years from a company called Arrow Global. I had never heard of these and have never had any correspondence from them so goggled them and contacted them to ask what the default was for.

They told me it was for an Orange contract that I had had back in 2008 that had an outstanding amount owing, but when I cancelled that contract I cleared the balance, I know I did because I couldn't cancel it until I did. I told Arrow that I didn't owe Orange anything, but they wanted proof that the closing balance was zero, which I no longer have because I ended that contract 5 years ago, and Arrow have refused to retract the default or the outstanding balance until they have the evidence.

I have contacted Orange but because the contract ended 5 years ago they cannot help me and since then Arrow have upped the amount owing to £263. Arrow have also claimed to have been chasing me for the money for the past 3 years. The address Arrow have for me is my mums which I moved out of 4 years ago and my mum forwards all the mail she gets for me onto to me at my new address and I have never once had one letter from Arrow.

Does anybody have any idea on the best way to progress? I want this default off as it is false but I can't get Arrow to shift. TIA

It's up to Arrow to provide evidence to substantiate the default, not for you to prove otherwise. They will try to convince you that the onus of proof is on you as they are complete bullsheet artists. Tell them that unless they provide proof that the default is valid, you will be seeking a court order against them to order removal of the default and payment of compensation.
