Baby sales

I am hoping those of you who have been through the process can help me decide here.

Are sales on big baby products (pram, cotbed etc) always on??

I know the products I want and have thoroughly researched them and am really tempted to buy them when I find offers but don't want to be fooled into thinking an offer will really end when it says it will. (Or not go down more after).

I'm only 23 weeks gone so also feel it's too early to buy everything.

Let me give you an example:
Pram system I want rrp £518. Been on offer on manufacturer site and mothercare at £408. Offer ended on manufacturer site but mothercare extended a little. They also have a 15% off stuff online deal which expires next week which brought it down to £350. The inlaws really wanted to buy it for us and felt this was a big enough discount so did today. Part of me thinks we got a bargain- part of me is worrying in case it goes down again or they just extend the deal longer.

Now I have seen the cotbed we want on Tesco for £119.50 plus they have a code for an extra £10 off. This retails anywhere from £125 to £200 normally. I'm thinking though that in a week when the code 'expires' they will probably just have another one or a better one.

As I know many of you have been through the baby buying stage can you tell me- do they always have money off codes and offers on or should I grab the bargains I find??

I started to over think my baby purchases and it was making me unhappy so I decided just to buy things when I saw an offer that I was comfortable with and once I had purchased an item I stopped looking at it.

There are always offers on and you are in no rush, just buy things when you feel the offer is a good one.
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!
  • I would say there are mostly sales on all the time. If you defo want something, get it when you've got a good price, but don't overstretch yourself now. Don't forget family may want to buy you big items, esp pram.x
  • Thanks for the replies. Seems as I thought then. It is family buying most of it but they just say I'll buy X for baby- you buy it and let me know how much it cost. The MSE in me still won't buy it unless I feel it is the lowest it will go despite it not being my money.

Have you also looked at topcashback because mothercare have something like 5% cashback. With Tesco, you can double up clubcard points on baby and toddler so £10 becomes worth £20. I am also 23 weeks so we will be due around the same time xxxx

Second hand stuff is the real bargain
  • Yup always offers on plus mothercare price match aswell.
Agree with pp about second hand though, baby stuff gets so little use you can get imaculate things for next to nothing, clothes especially. Take a look at NCT nearly new sales, they're fab for a bargain.

Check out kiddicare and kiddisave as they always seem to be cheaper than most shops and then get Mothercare to price match :)

Also if you want something from Tesco save up your Clubcard vouchers and they should do another double points event before your LO comes along
