Changing Address

Basically I need to change my address for my "old" bank account that has an outstanding overdraft, I also have 2 bank loans and a couple of credit cards with the same bank that are all (as of this month) going to default, as we had to move and circumstances have changed.
I have opened a new basic account with another bank.
My question is I have written to the old bank (which we have been with for over 7 years) and asked them to change the address on my account and then once we have done our financial budget will re-negotiate payments. But they are refusing to change the address as they are saying that they do not have a signature for either of us on file and to go into the bank with 2 forms of ID.
Now I know this sounds stupid, but we owe them a considerable amount of money and the thought of going into a branch is something I cannot bring myself to do!
Where do we stand? and how else are we going to get around it?
These accounts will all default and probably be sent to debt collectors anyway, we also have a redirection in place.
It just seems bizarre that they haven't got a signature, as we have a current account, 2 loans, 3 credit cards (between my husband and myself)
What do we do?

The branch staff probably wont even look at how much you owe or really care.. it's not their job to chase you. They will just change your address.

You could try phoning up ... but if they aren't able to change it over the phone you'll have no option but to go into a branch.
