edf billing and debt collection

i stopped my edf account in september last year and had my final bill, which i paid.
i have now had the same bill from edf (12 months later) saying it is unpaid.
i find it strange that edf have only just chased the bill, and i am now tracing the problem back to my bank through which i paid.
is there a time limit for chasing up a bill, especially as i have not been chased before for 12 months?

Not sure on the time limit but if you can prove that the final bill was paid (which shouldn't be too difficult) then just tell EDF to go and boil their heads and initiate a formal complaint against them.

The time limit for chasing a bill is 6 years. Go with JS477's reply
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'
