Please can you help..Capquest claim account is not statute barred..what next?

Options
Hi guys hoping you can help me cap quest are claiming that the account I owe £2000 is not statute barred.
I recently checked my credit file with equifax and the last delinquent default date was 14 September 2007.
Quite simply cap quest have said " we can confirm our records show a payment was made to this account on 12 may 2008.
To be quite honest I can't remember this or if I did it was over the phone under pressure at time.
They have found me since I updated electoral role etc.
I'm getting worried again now this debt was my silly debt when I was young and stupid 18 years old first credit card!
I hope people can help me I have sent many template letters previously cca prove it and statue barred just wondered what you would do many thanks

  • Thanks for your reply I really appreciate it.
    Template letter it is then?
What if they come back with some kind of proof what must it include ?
I guess if they come back with evidence I will have to pay ? What are the chances of ccj or worse ?

They do invent payments, so they will need some serious proof, if they turn all nasty, it usually means you have them.
    Be happy...;)
  • Really hope this is stat barred ! They are a vile debt collection agency! I don't want to give them a penny!
  • If they have proof then I must pay up?
    Options please?
What kind if proof is needed?

Don't try and second guess this. Ask for the proof, see what they have and then go from their.

They have to prove you made the payment remember.

Have you checked your file? The entry should be gone now.
