Direct Debit requirement

Hi guys,
I recently switched to the Santander 123 account and I'm just making sure about the two direct debits.
To get the first months interest, do both of the direct debits setup have to have been active (I.e. money come out of them)? I only ask as one of my direct debits comes out a few days after the statement. Or don't the direct debits even have to active, just set up and showing online (I.e. You could have Paypal and savings DD thats never had money taken from them)?

They only have to show in your DD list, they don't have to have money taken from them.0
