TV Problem - Sound goes off intermittently

Hope I posted this in the correct forum and that someone can advise me.
My friend's Mum bought a Celsus 32" HD LCD TV from Sainsburys. It is over 12 months old but less than 2 years.
For the last couple of months the sound stops working, nothing has been touched or messed with, it just stops. I've done a full retune (if that's what you call it) and that hasn't improved anything.
Is it worth getting a TV repair engineer in? Could only find one in our Yellow Pages. And any idea of cost?
Thank you.

Do you also get blocking of the picture and stuttering of the sound ?
If so it sounds like a signal strength issue or possibly interference.
Look at www.at800.tv as this may be the source of the interference.0 -
I don't think anything else is affected. I will ask & also ask if she had one of those postcards. She lives in an extra care housing flat on the 1st floor (3 floors in total). I know it was happening when Wimbledon was on. I'll find out more.
Thank you for your reply.0 -
i thought my tellys sound was on the blink with intermittent going on and off banging the telly made it come on then later on off again i was all for binning it when i replaced the scart lead at the back and low and behold all ok now,it was a faulty connection in the lead to telly thats why it came on with a thump...lol0

She's only got a DVD player connected. Would the scart lead thing still apply?0

Actually I think it may be connected to this 4G thing. My Mum had a postcard (we all live within a 2 mile radius of each other but I didn't get one, our TV's fine but we watch everything through Sky). Mum's TV was OK apart from she lost Film4 on Channel 15 so we retuned it and it was OK. She's still got the postcard so I'll ask her for it and send for the filter for my friend's Mum, see if that works.0

Test - if it's the 4G thing, playing a DVD won't be affected. Try that out. Also, of course, make sure that all cables are firmly inserted.0

Thank you very much for your reply. I will try that first.0
